SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (AP) -- It was against the rules for the lamb to follow Mary to school, and the same thing goes for the deer. But that didn't stop it from trying to board the bus.
It happened Friday morning in the rural town of Schoharie, 25 miles west of Albany. School officials say a white-tail deer tried to barge through the closed door of a school bus on its way to school. The bus was plastered with deer hair after the animal gave up and bounded off into the woods.
The incident took place near the Schoharie campus of the Capital Region BOCES' Career and Technical School. State Police and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene as part of the district's protocol, but neither the driver nor a student on board were hurt.
