Woman who claimed unlawful strip search pleads guilty to conspiracy

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Troy Woman Crystal Royal, 22, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess and sell narcotics, stemming from a February, 2008 arrest.

Royal has previously filed charges against Albany police officers, alleging she was unlawfully strip searched. She withdrew those charges, Monday, as well.

She filed that claim after another female, Lisa Shutter, claimed she was subjected to a public strip search after a routine traffic stop.

Royal was arrested again in October for drug possession.

Albany Police Chief James Tuffey says it's unfortunate that conclusions are sometimes drawn about officers, and he is, "pleased with the outcome of Ms. Royal's case."
