Police Pulled Body Out of Hudson River

Troy

Police in Rensselaer County think an adult male whose body was found floating in the Hudson River may have been a homicide victim.

A passerby spotted the body in the river, in the South End of Troy near Bruno Machinery.

Police say the body was badly decomposed, but there is still some clothing and jewelry which helped them make a positive identification.

The Rensselaer County Medical Examiner has confirmed the identity of the deceased male discovered in Troy Saturday afternoon as Shelton; aka "Shawn", Grant of New York City. Grant was last seen in the area of State Street and Fourth Street in Downtown Troy at approximately 8:00 am on November 30, 2007.

The death has been ruled a homicide and Troy Detectives are conducting an extensive criminal investigation. Details regarding the cause of death will not be released.

Any person(s) with information which may assist Detectives is urged to call (518) 270-4426.
