UPDATE: Columbia County restaurant destroyed by fire
Comments 0 | Recommend 0WEST GHENT -- Fire destroyed a popular restaurant and clubhouse Columbia County.
The Meadowgreens Restaurant and Golf Course at 1238 Route 9H in West Ghent was fully engulfed in flames early Thursday.
A passing driver called in the fire at about 4 a.m.
Owner Carmine Nero toured his gutted building later Thursday morning.
The restaurant -- a popular spot for banquets, meetings and weddings -- had recently undergone extensive renovations to the golf course.
Nero told CBS 6’s crew on scene that he had recently invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in new air conditioning and had made other renovations to his restaurant.
Fire companies remain on the scene along with state fire investigators.
