Firefighters battle stubborn blaze in Glenville

There is still no word on what caused a fire that broke out late Monday night in Glenville.

Crews were called to the home at 25 Ralmar Dr., between Route 50 and Hetcheltown Road, at about 10:30 p.m., according to John Saupp, East Glenville Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief.

He said the couple living there arrived home from walking their dog and called for help when they saw the fire. They then went inside to make sure their son was out of the house. He got out safely. They were taken to the hospital with what Saupp called minor injuries.

When firefighters arrived, the entire front of the home was engulfed in flames. Saupp said crews had trouble fighting the fire from the inside because it had spread to the attic and it made for an especially dangerous situation.

Crews were still working well into the morning to extinguish flames from the outside. Saupp said investigators would begin looking for a cause as soon as the situation was safe.
