International internet scam ends in Capital Region
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ALBANY, NY -- The Albany County Sheriff's office arrested 25 year old Knox man Jeffrey Robert for an alleged International internet scheme.
Deputies say Robert stole more than $100,000 from internet customers using e-bay and PayPal.
The Knox man is said to have offered high performance vehicle engines, modified automotive wiring harnesses and modified automotive computer units for sale and or repair.
Detectives say Robert operated this sceme under a number of business names including East Coast Engines, Muscle Sports and Imports, Muscle Sports and Import-Com, Jeffrey Robert, Auto Computer Tech.com or Turn Key Engines.
Customers are said to have purchased products from Robert or shipped items to him for repair and for a fee.
Albany County Deputies say Robert has been operating this scam for several years and this scam has affected hundreds of victims from seventeen states, Canada and Germany.
Robert is in the Albany County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail facing two major felonies.
Anyone with information on this case or who may have a similiar complaint has been asked to conatct the Albany County Sheriff's Office at 762-2351.
