Gansevoort man charged after attempting to steal purse from supermarket shopper
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A 22-year-old Gansevoort man has been charged after he tried to steal a purse from a female shopper entering a Price Chopper supermarket, police said.
According to the Warren County Sheriff's Office, Stanley Thornton confronted a woman as she was entering the Price Chopper store at 677 Upper Glen St. in Queensbury at 11:17 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18th, and tried to grab her purse.
The woman resisted Thornton by pulling back on her purse and screaming. Thornton ran off without the purse, police said. The female was not hurt.
Thornton was charged with felony third-degree attempted robbery. He was arraigned in Warren County Court Feb. 4th, and is being held without bail in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
