PE teacher arrested for DWI, blew .23% BAC
WATERFORD -- A Cambridge School District PE teacher was arrested Friday as part of a county-wide DWI sweep, according to the Waterford Police Department.
An officer said he tried to pull over Michael Proper, 33 of Mechanicville, on Broad Street in the Village of Waterford, but Proper kept driving over the 126th Street Bridge.
Proper hit the bridge, turned into a Rite Aid store, jumped a curb and hit the drive thru where he stopped, police said.
He was given a breathalyzer test which measured his blood alcohol content at .23 percent. A BAC above .18 percent becomes aggravated DWI under New York State law.
Proper is due back in court on Jan. 7.
