Police: Man offered ride home from bar taken to park, choked and robbed
ALBANY -- A Delmar man says he was driven to a park by three strangers from a bar downtown, choked and had his cell phone, wallet and cash stolen early Friday morning.
The 21-year-old victim told police he was standing outside Envy Lounge on North Pearl St. at about 4 a.m. when he was offered a ride home by a man and two women in a car.
The man got into the car with the three and he was driven to the area of Swinburne Park, he told police. There, he was ordered by the man in the group to get out of the car, and was choked by him.
The suspect stole his phone, wallet and $300, police said.
No detailed description of the suspects was available. Police say the victim was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Police are continuing to investigate.
