A Troy man is facing several charges after police say he broke into several cars during April and May and use the credit cars to buy merchandise.
North Greenbush police say Anthony Witbeck, 29, was breaking into cars in the Snyder's Lake and Wynantskill areas and then would take the credit cards and go to stores as far down as Kingston.
Police say they were able to catch up with Witbeck on June 2nd when someone called police and reported seeing a person with a backpack in the street. After a brief foot chase Witbeck was apprehended by police. Stolen items were found in his backpack and inside his 1996 Isuzu Trooper, according to police.
Witbeck was charged with petit larceny, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest and was sent to the Rensselaer County jail. Police say the investigation is continuing and there may be additional charges.
