With citizen help, Albany police arrest two for gun possession
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Albany Police arrest two teens who they say were carrying guns on Saturday morning, thanks to the help of a man who happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Police say Officer Michael Geraci was on patrol around midnight, when he spotted 19 year-old Robert Kite, and 16 year-old Brian Brown walking down partridge street.
When he got close to them, he saw what he thought was the butt of a shotgun sticking out from Kite's sweatshirt.
Officer Geraci stopped and got out of his car, and police say Kite took off running.
The officer stopped Brown, and found him hiding the stock of the shotgun under his clothes.
Brown tried to fight Geraci, say police.
At approximately the same time a citizen stopped in his car when he spotted the officer struggling with the suspect. He got out of his car, got into Officer Geraci's patrol car and used the police radio to call for help.
Backup came quickly and arrested Brown; a K-9 unit tracked Kite to a nearby shed where he was hiding, and he was arrested.
Each was charged with criminal possesion of a weapon and resisting arrest.
