Police arrest man in connection with Columbia County burglaries
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A 40-year-old Philmont man has been arrested for a string of Columbia County burglaries throughout the area.
Police say they managed to track down Daniel Burke after witnesses provided them with a description of his vehicle, which in turn was tracked to an Eagle St. address.
Burke was arrested at his home and taken to the State Police barracks in Livingston, where he was interviewed by investigators. Police say they also recovered stolen property from two Greenport burglaries in Burke's car.
Police believe Burke is also behind several home burglaries in which copper, cash, jewelry and antiques were stolen.
Burke was arraigned before Greenport Town Justic Robert Brenzel in connection with the two Greenport burglaries, and was being held at the Columbia County Jail without bail.
