Four suspects sought in pizza deliveryman robbery and beating in Albany
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Albany Police are searching for four men in connection with the robbery and assault of a pizza driver in the city, the second such incident in a week.
A pizza deliveryman from I Love NY Pizza on Central Ave. was making a delivery to 561 Second St. when a group of four men in their twenties approached him, according to Albany Police spokesperson James Miller.
The men forcibly stole a pizza and chicken wings, said Miller. One suspect reportedly threatened the deliveryman with a knife, saying, "If you try anything, you will get stabbed."
The men then struck and kicked the worker in stomach before fleeing north through an alley next to the home.
The delivery worker returned to the pizza shop at 313 Central Ave. and called police.
A K-9 track was conducted and ended at 531 Second St. The original call for the delivery was apparently made from a blocked phone number, and the house where the delivery was supposed to take place, 561 Second St., turned out to be abandoned.
The suspects were described as black men in their twenties, with one wearing a brown hat and dark jeans; one wearing a black ski cap and dark jeans; one wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and jeans; one wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
This was the second incident of a pizza deliveryman being robbed and attacked; a Soho Pizza worker was making a delivery early last week when he was attacked and robbed by a group of three men in their twenties. Police have not announced arrests in that case.
