Picture This: AG Cuomo Takes Local Wedding Photographer to Court

Cuomo to Mannix: Intention to "commence 'litigation"

Jerry Gretzinger

CBS 6 News said it would keep you updated on any new information regarding Robert Mannix, the local wedding photographer who was sued by a group of area newlyweds for failing to deliver their photos and albums.

Now, there's a significant development.

The Attorney General of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, is taking Mannix to court.

CBS 6 has obtained a copy of a letter sent from the Attorney General's office to Mannix just last week.

It notifies Mannix that it is the intention of the Attorney General to commence litigation against him and his companies, Mannix Studio and Star Wedding Planner.

The reasons for the suit listed in the notice include:

"Repeatedly and persistently taking money from consumers and then failing to provide promised good and/or services."

"Repeatedly and persistently failing to satisfy small claims judgements."

"Repeatedly and persistently engaging in deceptive, fraudulent, and illegal conduct."

The notice goes on to inform Mannix he has 5 days to show why the suit should not move forward.

In order to present all sides of this story, we're letting you know that Robert Mannix has had his say on what's going on on his YouTube channel.

He has been critical of how we've presented this story so if you'd like to read his remarks in their entirety, we've posted them below with a link to his page.

From the "Domestic Chef" YouTube Channel, Monday, May 17, 4:00pm:

"Just trying to make good on a bad business decisions. I've been a Photographer, Designer, Editor/producer most of my life. Doing pretty darn good with it, till my bad choice. I ended up hurting some people and wish everyday that I could take it back.
So a little about my bad choice: I was a wedding photographer, never missed a wedding, took beautiful images and loved what I did... then, the bad choice, I had a new business idea to advance what I had going on... yup, I believed it was a "SURE THING" with guarantees of a 2 month turnaround, figuring I'd turn the money back in no time... Yes, foolish dreams I know, but I did it. And it backfired, horribly. Due to this truly bad choice, the couples got angry, and rightfully so. Posting many bad reviews about me on the internet, bringing my Photography business to a complete stop. For that, I am not angry, I deserved every bit of it I must live with the bad choices I make. So at this point, Im screwed. Wanting sooo much to take care of all those I did wrong to, and no money coming in to fix it, so it just snowballed and got worse.
Now let me explain the wrong doing a bit more, I did their weddings, they got all of their photos as well as their full res files( I will post some images so people can see the work I did) The part missing was the Album( which is a montage of the photos they already have) Yes, still a very important part, but nothing like the premeditated evil photographer CBS6 and Jerry Gretzinger portrayed.
So that leads me to Jerry yes, not my favorite person in the world. Jerry grabs a hold of the story, and puts his evil spin on it (taking conversations with me out of context, manipulating the truth to better enhance his evil twist) To my understanding he also contacted potential employers I was interested in working for, now plastering my food show pilot on the news(killing that possibility of fixing things as well) amongst other things(Im still gathering more information) Now, I guess this is the part I dont quite understand You want me to pay these people back, yet you continuously do everything to prevent me from doing so. Ahhh, I get it, its all about the story. [I even offered to work for CBS (Im more than qualified to do any part of the news) or anyone for free till this was taken care of]
So, the bottom line, I did wrong, made a bad choice. Got truly depressed about it, didnt want to answer the phone, return emails, nothing. I felt worthless, the first time in my life I didnt know what to do. But I havent given up, and I will fix everything. Im working with the AG, doing everything possible to fix this. But I do think this is still a long road, with Jerry and CBS making it their mission to keep a good man down."
