Troy police have arrested a cohoes man in connection with a sexual assault on a bike path in Lansingburgh over the summer.

Stephen Pluff, 24, is facing several charges including rape and unlawful imprisonment.

Police say a woman was riding her bike near 103rd street in August when a man riding in the opposite direction reached his arm out and knocked her down.  He raped her and then took off on his bike.

Pluff was arrested on Thursday.  Police say he's known as a violent felony offender and is currently on probation for an incident in Troy where he was arrested for forcible touching.

Police say DNA evidence helped linked Pluff to the bike path attack.  He is being held at the Rensselaer County jail.
