Third urgent care coming to Clifton Park

CLIFTON PARK -- Ellis Medicine has received approval to build an urgent care facility at 103 Sitterly Rd, the former site of an Alpin Haus store.

Doctors and nurses certified in emergency medicine will run the clinic.

Currently, there are two urgent cares in Clifton Park: Seton Health Urgent Care on Tallow Wood Drive, open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends), and Urgent Care of Southern Saratoga located on Route 9 just past Route 146, open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m..

Ellis's facility would open at 10 a.m. and stay open until midnight.

The project will cost $3 million; officials hope to open it in early 2012.

Staff will treat patients for breaks, sprains, asthma attacks, fever, migraines, minor burns, lacerations, animal bites, rashes, skin infections, earaches, kidney stones and other non-life threatening illnesses.

"Now not only do you have additional options but expanded services," says Phil Barrett, town supervisor for Clifton Park. "It's a win-win for Clifton Park and Halfmoon."

Clifton Park and Halfmoon were recently denied by the state when an satellite emergency department was proposed.

The state says there are enough beds in that vicinity and it does not warrant another hospital or emergency department.

Ellis Hospital is the closest at 8 miles for those living in the Clifton Park-Halfmoon area.
