Groundbreaking for new Columbia County park
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Congressman Scott Murphy will be in Stockport tomorrow to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the planned 6.5-acre park in the town, just north of the city of Hudson.
Harrier Hill Park will offer dramatic views of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, and feature an open-sided pavilion for picnicking and community-group activities, a hiking trail that is handicap-accessible, and an informational kiosk about the property's unique ecology and history.
The state-owned park is surrounded by 92 acres of meadows and woodlands preserved by Scenic Hudson. A grant from the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is helping fund much of the new construction, according to environmental group Scenic Hudson.
The groundbreaking is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday.
