Four killed in Catskills crash
Comments 0 | Recommend 0FALLSBURG -- Police say excessive speed likely played a role in a car crash in the Catskills that killed four men and left two others in critical condition.
Town of Fallsburg police Detective Travis Hartman says Monday the car was traveling on a rural road in Sullivan County Saturday morning when it failed to negotiate a curve, sideswiped another vehicle and hit a tree.
Hartman says the car split in half upon impact.
Killed were 31-year-old Wilmer Hernandez and 19-year-old Jesse Maldonado, both of South Fallsburg; 24-year-old Erlin Rubio of Woodridge and 31-year-old Jose Rivera of Swan Lake.
Two other men were in critical condition Sunday afternoon at Westchester Medical Center. Their conditions weren't immediately available Monday morning.
