Siena Poll: New Yorkers spending less this holiday season

November 21, 2008 - 11:09 AM

This should come as no surprise, but a new Siena Poll shows New Yorkers plan to spend less money this holiday season.

According to the poll, 53% of New Yorkers say they'll spend less on the holidays this year than they did last year.  That number is up from 35% last year.

Sixty percent of people surveyed say they plan to buy gifts for the same amount of people, but 29% say they will cut down their lists.

Most consumers blame the economy for affecting their holiday spending plans.
