ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Several dozen members of the New York National Guard are back home after spending the past week helping out with hurricane recovery efforts in the Gulf Coast region.
Governor Paterson dispatched more than 100 Army and Air National Guard members from units across New York late last month. This past weekend about 50 returned to New York, and more than 20 remain on duty so they can assist communities hit by Hurricane Gustav.
