IBM to Invest $1.5 Billion in New York

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- New York Gov. David Paterson says IBM Corp. is investing $1.5 billion to promote nanotechnology research and to create and retain jobs in the state.
New York is giving IBM $140 million in economic development grants to support creation of as many as 1,000 new high-tech jobs upstate.
The money will be used to expand IBM's operations at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany.
It will also help create a new research and development center and upgrade IBM's East Fishkill facility in Dutchess County.
