Woman indicted after murder attempt on sleeping husband
BALLSTON -- A Ballston woman was indicted on charges of attempted murder and assault Friday for allegedly stabbing her husband while he slept in their bed in November.
Mary Jane Vautrin, 35, was additionally charged with forgery and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say Vautrin tried to kill her husband for insurance money, first forging her husband's name on a policy, then stabbing her sleeping husband Thomas, 43, before she stabbed herself in the throat.
The couple's 5- and 10-year-old sons slept in another room.
Mary Jane Vautrin and Thomas Vautrin were flown to Albany Medical Center Hospital for treatment, and have been released.
