Motorcycle accident in Warren County sends teen to hospital

A motorcycle accident that ended in a fiery blaze has sent a Fort Ann teen to the hospital with serious injuries, police say.

Seventeen-year-old Donald Brilyea was riding his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Ridge Road at around 10 p.m. Monday when he failed to negotiate a lefthand turn at Hanneford Road, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Brilyea skidded off of the northbound shoulder of the highway and turned onto its side, said the Sheriff's office.

Brilyea was thrown off the motorcycle, and both and the bike stuck a steel guard rail.

The motorcycle then continued to skid on the highway and ended up bursting into flames, the Sheriff's office said.

Brilyea suffered serious chest injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center from the West Glens Falls Firehouse.

Investigators say Brilyea was following another motorcycle and had passed another vehicle just before the crash. They say excessive speed and inexperience contributed to the accident.
