Cairo art dealer indicted for keeping money due to customer
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A 45-year-old Cairo art dealer has been charged for stealing money from a woman who had commissioned him to sell artwork.
Anthony Bonneau, owner of T's Family Auction in Cairo, had been commissioned by Valerie Ducos to sell artwork by her grandfather, James Michael Newell, a WPA artist who has work in the Smithsonian Institute and in the White House.
According to Greene County District Attorney Terry Wilhelm, Bonneau auctioned off artwork on Oct. 25th, 2008, and was supposed to hand over $25,000 to Ducos after taking his commission. None of that money was ever paid, said DA Wilhelm.
Bonneau is scheduled to be arraigned May 19th.
