Schdy mission ready for Thanksgiving

After a year in which the need for food was up 15 percent, the Schenectady City Mission is preparing for large crowds on Thanksgiving Day for the annual free turkey feast.

Mission Executive Director Mike Saccocio says their cooks have been working for days in anticipation of feeding more than 500 people on Thursday.

The Schenectady Mission will serve a dinner featuring 1000 pounds of turkey,84 pounds of stuffing, and 20 pounds of cranberry sauce, at their Dining Center at 512 Smith Street in Schenectady.  Dinner will be served from 12:30pm until 2:00pm Thanksgiving Day.

Saccocio says so much food will be prepared that the Mission expects to serve another big dinner on Friday.
