Schenectady man sentenced to 262 months on cocaine charges

A 48-year-old Schenectady man has been sentenced to over 21 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to drug charges.

Melvin Miller admitted in federal court to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. As part of his guilty plea, Miller will also receive eight years of post-release supervision.

A search executed at Miller's home at 1336 Waverly Place in May 2007 turned up two bags containing 1,798 grams of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia.

A search of another location frequented by Miller in Schenectady resulted in the seizure of around $50,000 and three pounds of marijuana.

Miller was arrested during a traffic stop near his home.

The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York, Glenn Suddaby.
