'Drunk girl' passes out, left locked inside Bombers restaurant
SCHENECTADY -- Attention, bartenders at Bombers Burrito Bar in Schenectady: Check the broom closets for people before you lock up.
That's the new memo from owner Matt Baumgartner after he received an overnight call from police about a woman who was accidentally locked in the restaurant at 447 State St. after she passed out in the broom closet, intoxicated.
In his blog, FridayPuppy.com, Baumgartner describes the voicemail messages he received from the restaurant's security company and Schenectady Police in the 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. hours about an intoxicated female patron found inside his restaurant.
He says the woman apparently passed out in the broom closet, then woke up at about 4:30 a.m., walked through the restaurant and called a friend asking her to pick her up.
She set off several of the silent alarms set up inside, prompting the security company to contact Schenectady Police.
Police in turn called Baumgartner to inform him they had "two detainees" in connection with the "break-in" at Bombers.
Baumgartner says he won't press charges against the woman. In fact, he says he's trying to get a hold of her to "hang out."
"She sounds fun," he says.
