A Lake George couple has been arrested, accused of stealing a purse from a motorized handicapped shopping cart at an area Wal-Mart.

According to the Warren County Sheriff's Office, an elderly couple had returned the shopping cart to the charging station at a Queensbury Wal-Mart when the purse went missing.

The purse contained paperwork, credit cards and cash.

Police were able to identify the suspects through surveillance video. Fifty-one-year old Deborah Root and 48-year-old Gerald Root were arrested and each charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny.
