Columbia County Sheriff's Department arrests sex offender
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Columbia County Sheriff's department is reporting the arrest of 48 year old Kenneth Knott.
The department tells us Knott is a level three sex offender, and was arrested for failing to notify police of a change of address.
Police say Knott was living in Ghent, but was registered as a sex offender in the Town of Stockport.
He was arraigned by and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,00 bail bond.
Knott will return to Ghent Town Court on Monday, January 25, 2010.
Sex offenders are required to register within ten days of moving to a new location.
Police say Knott had previously reported to the Stockport Police.
They are continuing the investigation to determine if Knott had filed false information in Stockport. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that Knott stayed at a camp ground in Ghent this past summer.
