Girlfriend, mom charged for assisting accused killer
State Police have arrested the girlfriend of accused killer Gerry King and her mother for allegedly assisting King in his getaway after the murder of King's father.
Police say 36-year-old Joleen Henderson of Sprakers, her 13-year-old son, and her 72-year-old mother Alice Williams left the area with King on Monday, Nov. 16, after King allegedly killed his father, George King, in Sharon in Schoharie County.
Police say the four drove to Massachusetts the first day and then on to Connecticut, where they were detained the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 17.
King, who waived extradition, was transported back to New York and charged with the murder of George King.
Henderson and Williams were released to return to New York with Henderson's 13-year-old son.
Investigators say Henderson conspired to destroy physical evidence, and Williams provided transportation to King which he used to leave New York state.
Henderson was charged Tuesday, Nov. 24 with first-degree hindering prosecution, tampering of physical evidence, fourth-degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.
Williams was charged with first-degree hindering prosecution.
Both women were arraigned in the Town of Sharon Court. Williams was released on her own recognizance, and Henderson was remanded to the Schoharie County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
