Joyrider's fun comes to a 'Crashing' hault
Albany Police arrested a joyrider last night after they say he stole and crashed a vehicle being unloaded from a car carrier at 935 Central Avenue.
Anthony Colon, 17, of South Ferry, was arrested just after 11:00 P.M. Monday night. Police say cars were being unloaded from a car carrying truck when Colon, who was waiting for the bus, decided to take a 2004 Nissan Sentra for a test spin.
Workers called 9-1-1 and a short-lived chase ensued. Police say they saw the vehicle speeding down Clinton Avenue. When they caught up with the car, Colon had crashed it into a parked van and a fence on the corner of Clinton and N. Lake Avenues.
Colon was immediately taken into custody and charged with with Grand Larceny 3rd, Criminal Mischief 2nd and multiple New York State Vehicle & Traffic violations.
The stolen Sentra and the parked van were seriously damaged, Colon was not injured.
