Woman caught trying to smuggle heroin into jail for inmate

A 23-year-old Coram woman was arrested Sunday after she was caught trying to smuggle heroin into a jail in Comstock.

Police say Dawn Deveaux tried to sneak in 4.47 grams of heroin into Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Comstock, N.Y. to deliver to an inmate there.

Deveaux was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband.

She was arraigned in Fort Ann Town Court and sent to the Washington County Jail.
