Abandoned? The Truth About Daisy
Yesterday, Juan McKnight, of Sheridan Avenue in Albany turned over a Jack Russell Terrier to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society.
McKnight said he heard the dog barking outside his house; he went out to find the dog abandoned inside a crate beside the trash - but police say this was not the case.
Albany Police Spokesperson James Miller tells us the original owners of the dog contacted him this morning. They told Miller that they couldn't keep the Jack Russell and gave the dog to a coworker - Mr. McKnight.
Police say McKnight made up the story about finding the dog and he was the actual owner. His motive for making up the abandonment story is unclear to police.
Brad Shear, from the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, says Daisy, the Jack Russell Terrier, is healthy and will be up for adoption soon.
Miller says no criminal charges will be filed.
