Firefighters knock down Guilderland house fire; no injuries reported

Investigators are looking into what caused a fire at a two-story Gipp Road home in Guilderland Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters from the Westmere Fire Department, as well as the Guilderland, McKownville and Fort Hunter Fire Departments, responded to the fire at 28 Gipp Road at around 1 p.m.

It took about an hour to bring the fire under control, according to Westmere F.D. chief William Swartz III. The home was significantly damaged as a result of the fire, said Swartz.

No one was home at the time of the fire.
