Antique steamboats take to the river
Comments 0 | Recommend 0SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -- More than 20 Victorian-age steamboats will chug along the upper Hudson River later today.
The Great International Steamboat Flotilla will dock at Hudson Crossing Park this evening. The park is located on Champlain Canal Lock 5 Island, just north of Schuylerville in Saratoga County.
The steamboats are known for having beautifully finished wooden decks, polished brass and graceful lines.
The flotilla is part of New York state's Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial celebration.
To add to the Victorian flavor of the antique boats, a group of fiddlers will provide live entertainment.
