GREENVILLE -- A drowned Friday morning in a backyard swimming pool.
According to New York State Police, Aaron J. Davies was one of ten children under the care of three women at what police called an "unregulated daycare facility" at the Virano residence on route 32.
A family friend told reporters Carol Virano is a babysitter and not a daycare operator.
Police said Davies was in the backyard with the other children when he climbed the ladder to a four-foot above-ground pool and entered the water unnoticed.
Police say they believe the boy was underwater for about three minutes before the adults found him.
Troopers performed CPR but Davies was unresponsive. He was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
