Schuylerville to receive $800,000 in grant money

Schuylerville will receive $600,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding and $200,000 through the Small Cities New York Main Street Grant program. Congressman Scott Murphy and Joe Rabito, the Deputy Commissioner for the New York State Office of Community Renewal, announced the grants today. The money will go toward the wastewater treatment plant, storm drain system upgrades and sidewalk improvements on Broad Street and Route 29.
"As we work to make critical investments to attract high-tech businesses to our region, we must work especially hard at rebuilding an infrastructure central to preparing our region for the innovation economy,” said Rep. Murphy.
Murphy said several communities throughout the 20th District are seeing outdated infrastructure cripple local government budgets. He said this funding will help develop Schuylerville without burdening small businesses and middle-class families "with too many taxes." |
