Will cheap gas mean return to gas-guzzling ways?
As gasoline prices continue to fall, will Americans return to their gas-guzzling ways?
Experts say that's unlikely because most drivers assume the dip in prices will be short-lived, and motorists have adjusted their habits accordingly.
AAA spokesman Geoff Sundstrom says after almost eight years of continuously rising gasoline prices, "Any notion that this is a temporary thing has pretty well been erased."
The question is no longer when gas prices will fall, but when will the next spike come.
Nevertheless, new technologies are emerging fast, with electric cars expected to hit the market in a couple years. And even automakers that have long relied on big trucks for profits are moving in a new direction. They're focusing more on cars.
Demand for gasoline has dropped 6 percent over a couple months.
Are you hopeful gas could eventually dip back below the $3 mark, or do you continue to expect gas prices to stay high? Have you adjusted your driving habits as a result? Are you planning to buy a hybrid or electric car anytime soon? Share your thoughts below!
