Make-a-Wish Foundation seeks community help in granting wishes

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Make-a-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York has kicked off its annual Adopt-an-Angel campaign.

Organizers say they're hoping to raise $200,000 this year to grant at least 20 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions in the 15 counties that comprise the 518 area code.

Among them are these six young ambassadors:

- 11-year-old Samantha Sagnelli of Clifton Park: "I wish to have a Hawaiian-themed birthday bash"
- 4-year-old Tyler Supernor of Whitehall: "I wish to go to Walt Disney World resort"
- 7-year-old Kolby Doemel of Cohoes: "I wish to go to Walt Disney World resort"
- 17-year-old Domenico Nanci of Schenectady: "I wish to meet the Pittsburgh Steelers"
- 5-year-old Troy Fiorillo of Amsterdam: "I wish to have a room makeover"
- 12-year-old Regina McGuire of Ravena: "I wish to have a violin"

Each child's story is told on a paper angel that resemble an ornament. Angels are available for a $3 donation, or 6 for $15, at Aviation Mall, Boscov's in Colonie Center (Nov. 27 to Nov. 29), Crossgates Mall, Rotterdam Square (weekends only), Wilton Mall (weekends only) and at every branch of First Niagara Bank.

Angels are also available at local schools and businesses. They may also be ordered by mail or phone at 782-4673 for $3.75 each through the foundation's office.
