Police seek public's help in string of arsons
Investigators in Delaware county say in the early morning hours of October 1st, there were two separate structure fires in the town of Sidney, in the Hamlet of Sidney Center. The fires required a response from several fire departments from three separate counties.
The fires were determined to have been set intentionally and are now two of several fires under investigation by an arson task force that was established in the last several days. The other fires occurred in Delaware county over the past few months and were also found to have been incendiary.
The arson task force is being led by Delaware County Department of Emergency Services and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office with representation from Office of Fire Prevention and Control Arson Bureau and the New York State Police.
Investigators are asking anyone who has seen any suspicious activity in the areas of the fires to contact the task force at 607-746-2336 or 1-800-914-9111.
