Two people, one dog rescued from Schenectady fire
SCHENECTADY -- A fire tore through a home on Emmett Street Sunday morning, briefly trapping two people and a dog inside.
The fire broke out just before 10:00 am at 893 Emmett St.
Schenectady Fire Chief Robert Farstad said smoke and flames were coming out of the first and second floors when they got on scene.
Smoke was billowing out of a large hole in the side of the building, and after getting the fire under control in less than an hour, fire crews went room-to-room to check for any hot spots.
The fire started in a first floor bedroom and spread up to the second floor, according to Farstad.
The two briefly trapped were taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
A dog was also rescued from the building.
