Man dead in Delanson blaze tentatively identified
DUANESBURG, N.Y. -- State fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused an explosion and fire that destroyed a garage where a 50-year-old man was later found dead inside a truck.
State police in Princetown in Schenectady County tentatively identified the victim as Daniel Bartlett, who was the sole resident of the property and owner of the vehicle. Positive identification will be made using DNA. The cause of death is pending toxicology and tissue testing.
John Nuzback, the Schenectady County fire coordinator, said the fire Saturday caused so much damage that investigators may be unable to pinpoint the exact cause.
Police said foul play is not suspected.
