Woman's body found in Hudson River

HIGHLAND FALLS, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in the Hudson River near West Point.
Putnam County Sheriff Donald Smith says a passing boater spotted the body floating in the river at about 10 a.m. Tuesday and called 911. The body was recovered near the middle of the river and the woman was pronounced dead at Garrison Yacht Club.
The body has been sent to the Putnam County morgue for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The unidentified victim is described as a woman with dark skin in her late 30s or early 40s, with black hair worn in a ponytail past her shoulders. She was wearing a black blouse, blue jeans, and black ankle-high boots.
