ALBANY -- An Albany Police officer is credited with helping to save the life of a man who collapsed on Putnam Street on Thursday.
Officer Luke Deer, who graduated from the police academy just last month, responded to a call on Thursday evening for a report of an unresponsive man on Putnam Street near Second Avenue. Deer immediately began to give the man CPR until medical help arrived.
Authorities say the 33-year-old man has a cardiac history and was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. Emergency Room doctors say Officer Deer's CPR played a major role in saving the man's life.
