Kid-friendly activities for winter break

ALBANY -- Schools around the Capital Region are closed for winter break. If you're looking for something to fill the time, check out one of these great options:
Empire State Plaza Ice Rink - "Now in its third year, the tremendously popular Empire State Plaza
Ice Rink is open daily December 13 through mid-March, from 11 a.m. – 8
p.m. (closed 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. for maintenance) and skating is free.
Located in the shadow of the majestic State Capitol, amenities include
Phil's Kitchen at the Pavilion, and a skate lounge with lockers and
music. Rentals are available whenever the rink is open for $3 (cash
only accepted) for children 12 and under, and $4 for adults."
miSci - "miSci is a dynamic destination just a short drive from Albany,
and Troy which celebrates science, invention, and imagination. The
Museum explores the area's rich technological heritage,
with some of the region's finest interactive exhibits; a must-see
for families, tourists, area residents, and other visitors."
Albany Institute of History and Art - "The Institute’s museum and library holdings form the best collections in
the United States documenting the life and culture of the Upper Hudson
Valley region from the late seventeenth century to the present day.
Although the Institute is famous for its significant Hudson River school
paintings, the broad scope of its collections includes fine arts,
furnishings, personal objects, documents, manuscripts, photographs, and
personal papers used by people of all ages, social classes, economic
conditions, and cultural groups."
New York State Museum Discovery Place - "Come discover the Discovery Place, a hands-on learning
center for young visitors, from pre-schoolers to eighth graders. There
are no "Do Not Touch" signs in this lively hub for curious young minds."
The Children's Museum of Science and Technology - "The CNSE Children's Museum of Science and Technology (CNSE CMOST), part of the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE),
is the only science center in Tech Valley designed specifically for
kids and parents to Explore, Discover, and Imagine the world of science
