Child safety seat check scheduled for Columbia Co.

HUDSON -- Making sure your child's safety seat is properly installed is key to keeping them safe in the event of an accident.
Officials in Columbia County have organized an event to help parents ensure their child's safety seat is doing its job. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office and Health Department along with the Hudson Police Department and NYS Governor's Traffic Safety Committee have planned a seat check event on Saturday, July 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be held in the front parking lot of Hudson High School at 215 Harry Howard Avenue.
Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to give parents and caregivers one-on-one guidance. Low-income families will also have the chance to get a free child seat while supplies last. Those families must meet income eligibility requirements and have their vehicle present. Additionally, the must receive education on child passenger safety and complete the manufacturer's warranty card and sign an agreement form and waiver of liability.
