Government Shutdown: Not able to contact your lawmaker?

Updated: Tuesday, October 15 2013, 11:22 AM EDT
The partial federal government shutdown has limited your access to some contact with your lawmakers.

Senator Charles Schumer's website shows a message telling visitors that while the partial federal government shutdown is in affect, emails and calls will not be answered until the shutdown is lifted.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's website tells visitors via a pop up window, that offices are not staffed and emails and letters will be responded to after the shutdown.

Senator Patrick Leahy also uses a pop up window to inform visitors that communications to the office will resume after the shutdown.

Many congressmen websites are still active and have answers to frequently asked questions on what is open and what government functions will continue to function through the shutdown.
