ALBANY - If you have an LCD screen at home, chances are you could have some cash coming your way but you have to act now.
The New York State Attorney General's office says a number of LCD manufacturers conspired to fix prices and in turn ripped-off consumers. New York sued along with a coalition of 23 other states and the manufacturers settled the lawsuit for more than $1 billion dollars.
If you bought a Chimei, Chunghwa, Epson, HannStar, Hitachi, Samsung, Sharp, AU Optronics, LG Display or Toshiba TV, notebook computer or monitor with an LCD screen between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 2006, you should file a claim to get a refund of anywhere from $20-$200. You do not need a receipt for smaller claims but the deadline to file is Thursday, December 6th.
Matthew Chapman was pricing around new flat screen tv's at Best Buy and had no idea about the settlement, "I have three LCD's at home, maybe I have some money coming. I'm definitely going to look into it," he says.
