Slick Roads Overnight As Steadier Snow Tapers Off - Still Some Occasional Light Snow

A weak area of low pressure that has been producing mainly light snow this evening will push farther away from the region as we work into the late night hours. The steady,  light snow will be tapering to more scattered areas of light snow, with only minimal additional accumulations for the overnight hours. Still, expect slow and slick travel conditions to be around for the duration of the night.  Most areas have seen from 1-3" of snowfall. Lingering flurries will be around into Monday morning.

You Paid for It: Roundabout Runaround

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 10:22 PM EDT

COLONIE -- It's a "You Paid For It" with a twist.
A local landscaper is trying to give away his materials and services to Albany County, but is being turned down. Pete Rossi of Landscape, Inc. wants to spend close to $7,000 to landscape the roundabout at the intersection of Albany Shaker and Maxwell Roads in Colonie. He says he’s tired of seeing it overgrown and covered with weeds.
Just one problem – Albany County has turned down his offer of free landscaping. County officials say having someone in the middle of the circle doing landscape work could be dangerous, and they say they are worried about maintenance down the road if for some reason Rossi is unable to take care of the bushes he wants to plant.
Albany County is hoping Rossi might consider landscaping other County property, so we will keep you posted.
