Governor Andrew Cuomo says he will appoint a special investigative commission with subpoena power to look at the entire NYS Legislature.

At least half a dozen lawmakers are facing criminal charges right now - some Capitol insiders are calling this the “session of scandal”.

It’s not just criminal charges – former Assemblyman Vito Lopez was forced to resign because he sexually harassed staffers. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has been widely criticized for authorizing a secret payoff to Lopez’s victims, and both men are being sued by other alleged Lopez victims.

Barbara Bartoletti of the League of Women Voters says many lawmakers can’t wait for the session to end, so they can get out of town and put all this behind them.
